This weekend, the swimming world will witness the incredible talent of Sunshine Coast Grammar Swimming Club athletes as they compete in the prestigious national trials, vying for a spot in the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams.
Ten athletes, including six Sunshine Coast Grammar School Students, and two coaches from the Club will travel to the Brisbane Aquatic Centre to compete at the domestic meet from 10 – 15 June 2024. The journey to the Olympic Trials is a testament to their hard work, dedication and passion for swimming.
Head Coach Luke Stafford expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Olympic Trials represent the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and sacrifice for our athletes.”
The athletes’ ability to balance rigorous training schedules with academic commitments is commendable and serves as an inspiration to their peers.
“We are immensely proud of each athlete representing our Club and Sunshine Coast Grammar School at the trials,” said Luke.
“Their participation highlights their individual talent and reflects the collective effort and support of our coaching team, teammates, families and the entire Club community.”
Joining the Club’s coaching team at the trials is Charlie Barry, who will guide two of the Club’s Paralympic hopefuls, Kael Thompson and Grace Brimelow.
The Olympic Trials stand as the pinnacle of domestic competition and offer invaluable experience for athletes as they set their sights on the future, including the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
