Sunshine Coast Grammar’s swimming team has returned triumphant from the Australian Short Course Swimming Championships held in Adelaide recently. Our team, led by Coach Charlie Barry and Director of Swimming Luke Stafford, delivered exceptional performances that placed Grammar in eighth position on the club point score – a remarkable achievement!
The team of 12 swimmers, including six Grammar School students and two Learn to Swim Teachers, Isabella Kings and Kane Martin, competed at the highest level throughout the national event. Each swimmer qualified for open and age finals, breaking personal best records and showcasing the strength and dedication within our swimming program.
Five athletes qualified for the A Grade Finals across 15 events claiming four medals. Multi-Class swimmer, Kael Thompson retained the Gold for the third consecutive year in the 50m Backstroke, Silver in 50m Butterfly and Bronze in 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke.
Director of Swimming, Luke Stafford expressed his pride in the team’s performance, stating that the prestigious competition is a quality event to gain exposure and experience for our aspiring athletes.
“To see our swimmers qualify for finals and break personal records is a testament to their hard work and commitment.”
“We are so proud of placing eighth in the club point score, which is a credit not only to our athletes but also the support of our coaching staff and the families behind the scenes,” said Luke.
Our Grammar community is incredibly proud of our talented athletes, whose dedication and passion continue to inspire their peers and future generations of swimmers.
Congratulations to all of our athletes. We are looking forward to continuing this momentum into future competitions.
